Introduction
Our staff endeavors to develop our athletes not only on the court but off the court
as well. Student-athletes who participate in volleyball learn self-discipline, perseverance,
hard work and a sense of personal and school pride. Developing personal integrity
is also a goal of the Saint Ignatius volleyball program.
The Wolfpack Staff
Varsity Head Coach, Erik Eastman, is entering his ninth season with the Wolfpack.
Coach Eastman has a career record of 203-98 with the Wolfpack and led the team to
their first GCAC Red Division Championship in school history in 2012. Assisting
at the Varsity level is GCAC Hall of Fame member Patty Ryan. Coach Ryan has been
with the program for the past twelve seasons and is a former All-State volleyball
stand-out at Saint Ignatius. Beginning his ninth season with the Pack is Mark Johnston
assisted by third year coach Eileen Carls. Kelly Fitzpatrick, a former All-GCAC
player for the Wolfpack, will head the Freshman A Team in her second season along
with Dana Van Syckle with the Freshman B Team in her third season.

The Team
Saint Ignatius volleyball is a Class 4A program that competes in the Girls Catholic
Athletic Conference Red Division during the regular season. The Jacobs Invite, Huntley
Invite, GCAC Tournament and Waubonsie Valley Tournament complete one of the most
competitive schedules in the state. The Wolfpack’s strong schedule challenges our
players to perform at their highest level both mentally and physically throughout
the season.
Last Season Recap
The Wolfpack finished 2012 winning 88 matches across four levels. The varsity posted
a 28-10 mark while winning their first ever Red Division GCAC Championship over
Mother McAuley. This was the first time in school history the Pack ever defeated
the Mighty Macs. The Wolfpack also took 2nd at the Huntley invite, placed 3rd at
the Waubonsie Valley Invite, and 3rd at the Jacobs Invite. The JV squad compiled
a record of 23-9 while winning the Crystal Lake South Invite and placing 4th in
the GCAC Championships. The Freshman A Team went 27-3-2, finishing 2nd at the Queen
of Peace Invite, wining the Plainfield South Invite and placing 2nd at the GCAC
Championships. The Freshman B Team went 10-14-1 overall and defeated Mother McAuley
in the regular season while placing 4th at the York JV Invite.
Individually, the Wolfpack varsity had a fantastic year as well. Sophia Dodd, Casey
Harris, Jana Brusek and Camille Evans were named to the All-GCAC team while 11 girls
were nominated to the All-Academic GCAC Team. For senior captain Dodd, it was the
fourth straight season with that honor as she was named Player of the Year in the
GCAC. Sophia is only the second player to receive this award in school history and
put up some solid numbers with 385 assists, 569 attempts, .376 assist percentage,
213 kills, 39 aces, 50 block assists, 258 digs, 7 block solos and passer rating
of 2.21ranking her in the top 3 in every category in 2012. Dodd received All-Tournament
honors at the Waubonsie Valley Invite, was named All-State 2nd Team by the Chicago
Sun-Times, Illinois News Gazette 1st Team and a Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball as
one of the Top 100 players in the country. Camille Evans was named to the Waubonsie
Valley and Jacobs All-Tournament teams while leading the Wolfpack in kills with
322. Her .408 hitting percentage shattered the All-Time Single Season mark she set
a year ago. Evans was named a Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball as one of the Top 250
players in the country. Casey Harris was named All-GCAC for the first time behind
108 kills, 51 block assists, and 20 block solos to lead the team and tie her for
4th All-Time Single season with Courtney Somerville. Harris also hit at a .385 clip
for 2nd All-Time Single season with 14 aces and 43 digs. Jana Brusek received All-GCAC
honors for the first time as she posted solid numbers with 383 digs leading the
team while moving her to 5th All-Time Single season and 50 aces to lead the team.
Brusek added 80 kills and had a passer rating of 2.332. Her 930 total service points
and 394 serving attempts broke the All-Time Single season marks held by Kelly Fitzpatrick
in both categories. The varsity was awarded the IHSA Team All-Academic Award for
the 8th straight season as well maintaining a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.34.
