  Pack Face Tough Conditions
The Varsity Girls Rowing Team competed in the Frogtown Regatta in Toledo, OH on Saturday, Sept. 22nd.  Against a number of Midwest Junior and Scholastic rivals, the 1st 4+ was 11th (of 13); 2nd 4+ was 5th (of 11); 3rd 4+ was 7 and the 4th 4+ was 8th (of 9) in the same event.  Due to transit of two freighters on the Maumee River, the regatta shortened the course to only 750 meters and the remaining races were sprints.  The 1st 8+ was 5th (of 12) and the 2nd 8+ was 5th (of 9).  A strong head wind in the fours events made for difficult racing conditions.
09/29/18 Girls Rowing Varsity @ Tough Cup 8:00 AM
  Wolfpack Defend Home River
On Saturday, Sept. 29th, the Wolfpack competed against 15 clubs and schools in the Tough Cup held on the Chicago River on our home turf.  The Novice girls 8+ lead off the competition finishing 5th of 7 in their first race ever!  They did very well over the 3,000 meter course. They were followed by the Varsity Girls fours, racing the full 5,000 meters.  Racing against New Trier's and Culver's entries the A boat was 5th, B boat was 7th, C boat was 8th, and the D boat was 10th.  Immediately after landing from the fours race, the varsity eights jumped into their boats and had to rush to the start because they moved their event up by an hour!  Thus, they were 10th and 11th of ll entries.  The novice girls finished the regatta in the novice fours with the A boat winning the event!  The B boat was 5th. This was the first time the novices had raced a four.  All are looking forward to the ROWtoberfest on Saturday, October 6th in Chicago.

Pack Battle at Head of the Charles
Top Girls Varsity 4+ Crew team of stroke seat to bow: Senior Libby Horak, Junior Maya Gregoire, Sophomore Katie Taylor, Senior Alicia Lynch and Sophomore Coxswain Lucy FioRito traveled to Boston, MA to compete in the 54th Annual Head of the Charles River Regatta.  This two-day rowing event is the world's largest and the course spans 3 miles.  More than 11,000 athletes attend from over 25 different countries and compete in 55 different race events.  The conditions for the Women's Youth Fours deteriorated during the event.  Those starting in the first 40 bow numbers missed the significant increase in NW wind.  By the time our crew started winds were gusting over 20 mph.  They fought hard against the conditions and were able to hold off #75 during the last 1000 meters with an excellent course and sprints.  Starting from bow number 72 they finished 58th out of 84.  We are very proud of their performance and are looking forward to getting stronger and faster over the winter training practices.
11/03/18 Girls Rowing Varsity @ Waldino Cup (Skokie) 9:00 AM
