Introduction
Graduates of the Saint Ignatius College Prep crew program will leave with three
important qualities that will lead to success in the real world: self-confidence,
the ability to work on a team, and time management. On the crew team, we pull hard
every stroke not only for ourselves individually, but for our boat mates and our
school.
The Team
Saint Ignatius crew is a club team that competes in both the fall and spring. The
crew travels all over the Midwest to race. The team also sends select crews to compete
at the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA and qualifying crews to Scholastic Nationals,
which has been held at multiple rowing venues all over the east coast.
Last Season Recap
Over the course of the fall 2012 season, the crew laid the groundwork for a successful
spring. Ten new sophomores were welcomed onto the Varsity level, improving dramatically
week by week. The crew programs priority boat, the Varsity 4+, took nineteenth out
of eighty-five boats at the prestigious Head of the Charles in Boston, MA, just
a week after their new racing shell was christened by Fr. Caruso. The crew was made
up of all seniors: Owen Skelding, Patrick Engel, Peter Voss, Andrew Isaacson, and
Syndey Green. This was the third time in as many years the Pack have placed in the
top twenty in the Men's Youth Four event.
