The Wolfpack boys swimming and diving program uses a combination of threshold training, active rest and VO2 max swimming in addition to drylands, weights and plyo-metrics to get ready for the season. In the past 17 years, both swimming and diving teams have had 95 state qualifiers for 474 events, 121 All-Americans, 366 sectional champions and 180 conference champions. The Wolfpack swim team has been named IHSA Team Academic Achievement winners for 17 consecutive years.
The Boys Swimming and Diving season runs from mid-November to late February and is a winter sport. It has two levels; Junior Varsity and Varsity.
Coach Justin Fernandez is building on his service to the Wolfpack. The head coach for Saint Ignatius College Prep Boys Swimming and Diving is taking on Girls Swimming and Diving, too. In the time Fernandez has been involved in Saint Ignatius Aquatics, he’s produced multiple MCAC Champions, IHSA Sectional Champs, IHSA State Finalists, and NISCA All-Americans.
Coach Fernandez, a native of Chicago, swam collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 2013-2017 and served as team captain.

Wolfpack Place 13th at IHSA State Finals!
The Wolfpack placed 13th overall at the IHSA State Finals at Westmont. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland was a double state runner-up in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and broke both school records. He also broke the MCAC all-time record in the 500 freestyle. Alistair Guth was tenth in the 200 freestyle and 12th in the 100 freestyle. Relay Team of Biko Hooper-Haviland, Alistair Guth, Junior Carmine Fallara, and Freshman Danny Scott scored fourth place in the 400 freestyle relay and broke the 2018 school record by more than a second. IHSA Sectional Champions!!!
The Wolfpack tied Jones-Payton Co-op in an epic IHSA Sectional Championship at UIC Flames Natatorium. Diving duo of Sophomore Connor Gunderson and Freshman Leo Fallara kicked off the meet with first and sixth place in the 11 dive competition. Gunderson established a new 11-dive fresh soph and varsity school record with a final score of 479.55. Relay team of Sophomore Charlie Cali, Freshman Andrew Arreola, Freshman Danny Scott, and Junior Carmine Fallara were runner-ups in the 200 medley relay. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland and Junior Alistair Guth swept the 200 freestyle to score big points for the Wolfpack and both qualify for the state championships. Hooper-Haviland established a new school record in the 200 freestyle with Guth moving to #4 all-time. Junior Carmine Fallara and Andrew Arreola also maximized their positions in the 200 IM with a first and fourth-place finish. Fallara gets on the top 10 list for the first time in his career for #3 all-time and qualifies for the state championships. Danny Scott and Sophomore Christian Chora picked up second and tenth in the 50 freestyle with Scott qualifying for the IHSA State Championships by .01 of a second. Scott and Sophomore Lincoln Routier scored first and ninth in the 100 butterfly with Scott picking up a second state qualifying event, winning his first sectional title, and getting on the top 10 list for #7 all-time. Guth and Chora were second and eighth in the 100 freestyle with Guth also picking his second IHSA State qualifying event and moving to #6 all-time. Hooper-Haviland and Cali swept the 500 freestyle, both qualified for the IHSA state championships, and moved up to #2 and #4 all-time in the event. Relay team of Fallara, Guth, Scott, and Hooper-Haviland won the 200 freestyle relay with Fallara’s lead-off time achieving a top 10 all-time in the 50 freestyle. Cali and Routier held their own in a loaded backstroke field to score fifth and ninth and establish new best times. Fallara and Arreola returned in the 100 breaststroke to score second and fifth with Fallara picking up a second individual event for the IHSA State Championships. Fallara moves up to #3 and Arreola gets on the top 10 list for #8 all-time. Relay team of Hooper-Haviland, Cali, Chora, and Guth won the 400 freestyle relay with Hooper-Haviland’s lead-off time moving him to 3 all-time in the 100 freestyle. Saint Ignatius College Prep and Jones-Payton Co-op tied exactly 291-291 to become co-champions. Pack Snag 5th Straight MCAC Championship!
The Wolfpack captured their fifth consecutive title at the 2025 MCAC Varsity Championships! Sophomore Connor Gunderson won the 1m diving competition with Freshman Leo Fallara picking up fifth place. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland was a double event winner in the 200 and 500 freestyle, breaking the pool record in the 500 freestyle. Sophomore Charlie Cali scored fifth in the 200 freestyle and third in the 500 freestyle, moving to #6 all-time in school history. Junior Carmine Fallara was third in the 200 IM with Freshman Andrew Arreola moving up to ninth to score big points for the Wolfpack. Junior Alistair Guth and Freshman Danny Scott swept the 50 freestyle for first and second. Guth moves to #7 all-time. Scott and Sophomore Lincoln Routier scored sixth and twelfth in the 100 butterfly. Guth won the 100 freestyle and moves to #7 all-time with Sophomore Crisitan Chora picking up twelfth. Routier moved up big in his heat to score tenth in the 100 backstroke. Fallara, Arreola, and Senior Captain Rohan Robinson scored fourth, sixth, and ninth in the 100 breaststroke. The Pack defeated Brother Rice (79-25) but lost closely to Fenwick (81-79) at the annual Triangular at Fenwick. Sophomore Connor Gunderson and Freshman Leo Fallara captured first and fourth place in the 1m diving competition. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland and Sophomore Charlie Cali swept both the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Junior Carmine Fallara and Freshman Andrew Arreola scored second and third in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Pack Top Dolphins on Senior Night
The Wolfpack defeated Whitney Young on Senior Night with many new personal bests, top 10 all-time lists, and a new team record. Sophomore Connor Gunderson and Freshman Leo Fallara split for first and fourth in the 1m diving competition. Junior Carmine Fallara and Freshman Andrew Arreola swept the 200 freestyle with Fallara picking up a new personal best time. Freshman Danny Scott and Sophomore Lincoln Routier split first and third in the 200 IM and also picked up new best times in the event. Junior Alistiair Guth and Sophomore Christian Chora split for first and fourth with Chora also going a best time and Guth moving up to #10 all-time in the event in school history. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland unleashed a new overall school record in the 100 butterfly for a final time of 48.37 seconds, clearing the 2021 mark by more than half a second. Fallara and Chora split for first and fourth in the 100 freestyle with Fallara going another best time. Sophomore Charlie Cali and Arreola swept the 500 freestyle with Cali going under 4:50 for the first time and moving to #6 all-time in school history. Cali later won the 100 back with Freshman Kelton Szerlong securing third place. Pack Take 3rd at Steve Allen Invite
The Pack competed at the annual Steve Allen Invitational at Lockport placing 3rd overall with 320 points. Sophomore Connor Gunderson kicked things off with a fifth-place finish in the 11-dive competition with a new personal best score of 418.85. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland won the 200 freestyle by more than six seconds. Junior Alistair Guth followed suit and won the 200 IM by more than 3 seconds. Junior Carmine Fallara and Sophomore Charlie Cali secured third and seventh in the 100 butterfly. Hooper-Haviland won the 100 freestyle and established a new pool record of 46.34. Wolfpack Fall to Eagles
The Pack competed at the Windy City Showdown II at Jones College Prep against Jones-Payton Co-op falling to the Eagles 79-73. Relay team of Sophomore Charlie Cali, Freshman Andrew Arreola, Sophomore Lincoln Routier, and Junior Owen Snow placed second in the 200 medley relay. Junior Alistair Guth and Charlie Cali both threw down season-best times in the 200 freestyle with Guth moving up to #7 Wolfpack all-time list. Arreola placed fourth in the 200 IM with Junior Carmine Fallara winning the event and securing a new personal best. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland won, broke the 21-second barrier for the first time in the 50 freestyle, and became the fourth-fastest 50 freestyler in Wolfpack history. Hooper-Haviland and Freshman Danny Scott routed the field in the 100 butterfly with an event sweep— Hooper-Haviland levels up for #3 Wolfpack all-time list. Gunderson 23rd Overall at the Hinsdale Central Diving Invitational
The Wolfpack competed at the annual Hinsdale Central Diving Invitational. Sophomore Connor Gunderson scored 23rd overall against many of the state's top divers. Wolfpack Place 2nd at Bulldog Invite
The Pack scored second overall in the team standings at the 67th Annual Riverside Brookfield Invite. Sophomore Connor Gunderson kicked things off on Friday evening with a fourth place overall in the 1m diving competition. Relay team of freshmen Kelton Szerlong and Andrew Arreola and Sophomores Lincoln Routier and Christian Chora placed sixth in the 200 medley relay. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland and Sophomore Charlie Cali picked up second and sixth in the 200 freestyle. Juniors Alistair Guth and Carmine Fallara were second and fourth in the 200 IM. Chora and Sophomore Deven Emerson placed twelfth and eighteenth respectively in the 50 freestyle. Routier and Arreola were tenth and fifteenth in the 100 butterfly. Guth and Fallara both repeated season-best time in the 100 freestyle for second and sixth. Hooper-Haviland won the 500 freestyle with Charlie picking up third place and a season-best time. The Pack placed ninth overall at the annual Evanston Invitational at Evanston. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland won the 200 freestyle with Junior Alistair Guth scoring fourth place. Junior Carmine Fallara placed ninth in the 50 freestyle. Guth moved up one place in the 100 freestyle to finish third overall. Sophomore Charlie Cali established a season-best time for the 500 freestyle and scored seventh. Relay team of Fallara, Scott, Arreola, and Guth placed sixth in the 200 freestyle relay. The Wolfpack traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete at the 2024 Jesuit Cup against St. Xavier, University of Detroit Jesuit, and Saint Ignatius Cleveland. Sophomore Connor Gunderson kicked things off with a win in the 11-dive 1m competition. His score of 402.40 was a new personal best. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland and Junior Alistair Guth scored first and second in the 200 freestyle. Junior Carmine Fallara placed eighth overall in the 50 freestyle. Wolfpack Win Don Davis Giant Invite
The Pack was victorious at the Don Davis Giant Invite at Highland Park. The meet was divided into two six-man flights competing in all four 50s of stroke and the 150 freestyle. In Flight A, senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland was victorious in the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly, and 150 freestyle and ninth in the 50 breaststroke. Junior Alistair Guth was runner-up in the 50 and 150 freestyle, third place in the 50 backstroke, fourth place in the 50 butterfly, and sixth in the 50 breaststroke. Junior Carmine Fallara was runner-up in the 50 breaststroke, 5th in the 50 freestyle, sixth in the 50 backstroke, seventh in the 50 butterfly, and tenth in the 150 freestyle. Freshman Andrew Arreola was seventh in the 50 breaststroke. The Wolfpack won the Flight A Division over host Highland Park. In Flight B, senior Captain Rohan Robinson won the 50 breaststroke, sixth in the 50 freestyle, ninth in the 50 butterfly, and tenth in the 150 freestyle. Senior Adrian Rosado was fourth in the 50 freestyle and sixth in the 50 butterfly. Junior Will Melby scored third place in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly, eighth place in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke, and ninth in the 150 freestyle. Junior Owen Snow was fifth in the 50 backstroke, seventh in the 150 freestyle, and ninth in the 50 breaststroke. Sophomore Deven Emerson was runner-up in the 50 freestyle, eighth in the 150 freestyle, and tenth in the 50 backstroke. The Wolfpack were runner-ups in the Flight B Division behind host Highland Park. In High Point, Melby secured fourth place in the Flight B high point challenge. The Wolfpack competed for the first time at the 55th Annual Randy Block Memorial Relays at Marmion Academy placing 3rd overall. Sophomore Lincoln Routier, Senior Captain Rohan Robinson, Freshman Will Rauch, and Sophomore Christian Chora scored sixth in the 200 medley relay. Junior Owen Snow, Sophomore Deven Emerson, Sophomore Charlie Cali, and Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland placed third in the 500 crescendo relay. 400 IM relay team of Junior Carmine Fallara, Routier, Robinson, and Snow were fourth place overall. 200 medley relay fr-so team of Cali, Freshman Andrew Arreola, Rauch, and Chora were runner-ups. Hooper-Haviland, Junior Alistair Guth, Fallara, and Snow were runner-ups in the 200 freestyle relay. Arreola, Chora, Emerson, and Routier were second in the 200 freestyle fr-so relay. Hooper-Haviland, Guth, and Rauch were second in the 300 butterfly relay. Hooper-Haviland broke the pool record with a final time of 50.57, previously held by school record holder, Parker Nolan ‘21. The Wolfpack faced off against Loyola Academy falling 95-65 in dual meet. Sophomore Connor Gunderson won the 1m diving competition and established a new pool record with a score of 240.05. Senior Captain Biko Hooper-Haviland and Junior Alistair Guth placed first and second in the 200 freestyle. Hooper-Haviland followed suit and established a new pool record with a final time of 1:40.61. Freshman Andrew Arreola and Senior Captain Rohan Robinson placed fourth and fifth in the 200 IM. Junior Carmine Fallara won the 50 freestyle. Hooper-Haviland won the 100 butterfly by more than a second. Guth had a closer race in the 100 freestyle but emerged victorious with a new season-best. Pack Place 3rd at Quad
The Pack faced off against the University of Chicago Laboratory School, Lane Tech College Prep, and Jones-Payton Coop in an epic quad meet at the University of Chicago’s premier Gerald Ratner Center. Ignatius placed 3rd overall with a score of 118 points. Sophomore Charlie Cali was fifth in the 200 freestyle. Junior Alistair Guth won both the 200 IM and 100 butterfly events with a new season best. Fellow Junior Carmine Fallara won the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke events. Sophomore Christian Chora went a best time in the 100 freestyle to place sixth overall. Cali returned for a runner-up performance in the 500 freestyle with Sophomore Lincoln Routier scoring fifth. Relay team of Guth, Fallara, Cali, and Routier won the 200 freestyle relay; holding off a late charge by UChicago Lab School. Junior Owen Snow was eighth in the 100 backstroke. Pack Place 2nd in Season Opener
The Pack kicked off the 2024-2025 season with a strong runner-up finish at the 53rd annual Warrior Relays held at Deerfield High School. Sophomore Connor Gunderson started the competition with a second-place finish in the 1-meter diving event. The relay team of Junior Alistair Guth, Freshman Andrew Arreola, Freshman Danny Scott, and Junior Carmine Fallara secured second place in the 400 medley relay. Freshman Leo Fallara, Freshman Will Rauch, Sophomore Deven Emerson, and Sophomore Charlie Cali placed third in the 500 crescendo relay. Senior Captain Rohan Robinson, Sophomore Christian Chora, and Junior Owen Snow finished sixth in the 300 IM relay. In the 200 frosh medley relay, Cali, Arreola, Scott, and Emerson earned a runner-up finish. Carmine Fallara, Snow, Chora, and Robinson placed third in the 200 freestyle relay. Guth, Cali, and Snow followed with a third-place finish in the 300 backstroke relay. Rauch, Chora, Leo Fallara, and Emerson earned fifth in the frosh 200 freestyle relay. The team of Cali, Fallara, Scott, and Guth secured fourth in the 400 freestyle relay, setting up an exciting finish. In the final race, the Wolfpack placed second in the 8x25 freestyle relay, making a dramatic surge from 5th place midway through the competition to claim second overall!
