Introduction Cross Country is an endurance sport that incorporates both team and individual components. Saint Ignatius has a modified no-cut policy with respect to this program. This policy allows new student-athletes the opportunity to learn the sport at their own rate. Returnees of all skill levels are expected be in shape when the season starts so they can handle the training volume of the varsity team. To remain on the team, all student-athletes must commit to all of the meets and practices on the schedule.
All seven Wolfpack runners earned awards as the team won the GCAC title. Pilar Curran (2nd) led the way. She was followed by Sarah Fitzgerald (4th), Gabriella Duque (5th), Megan McClain (7th), Mary Kate Brady (8th), Maya Williams (12th) and Greer Waller (14th).
The Wolfpack won the Lakes Invite on Saturday. Ignatius had the first nine finishers and thirteen of the first fourteen finishers to earn a perfect score of 15. Olivia Brophy won the race in a big personal record and was followed by Maya Williams, Ella Kueker, Elizabeth Schmiedeler, Greer Waller, Mary Kate Brady, Gabriela Wrobel, Lina Sniegowski and Julieta Mayorga.
The Wolfpack won the Solorio invite with five runners in the top ten. Maya Williams (2nd), Mary Kate Brady (3rd), Maeve Griffin (4th), Greer Waller (5th), Julieta Mayora (10th) and Isabella Soriano (18th) earned medals. Big PRs were achieved by Magdalena Pullos, Sarah Lewis and Sophia Martinez.
The Wolfpack won the Peoria Notre Dame Invite with 14 runners in the top 52 in a field of 542 runners. Rory Steinhofer (5th) and Kate McAllister (10th) earned medals. Gabriella Duque (14th), Pilar Curran (15th) and Mary O'Reilly (23rd) completed the scoring. Elizabeth Schmiedeler, Greer Waller, Megan McClain, Mary Kate Brady and Ariana Zamora and many more had PRs.
The Pack sent six runners to compete at the Bremen Invite and earned a fifth-place finish in a field of nine teams. Gabby Wrobel, Josie Borkowski and Isabella Soriano earned medals. Giada Gambatese, Sophia Martinez and Alex Schmidt rounded out the team score.
The Wolfpack put together a great effort in the heat which led to a 3rd place finish for the Wolfpack at the Lake Park Invite. Kate McAllister led the way with her fourth-place finish to lead Ignatius. Pilar Curran (12th), Olivia Brophy (13th), Elizabeth Schmiedeler (15th), Megan McClain (21st), Rory Steinhofer (23rd), Mary Kate Brady (24th) and Maya Williams (26th) earned awards in a field of 269 finishers.
The Wolfpack won their first meet of the season at Grayslake Central with a perfect score of 15. Maya Williams won and she was followed by Wolfpack runners in places two through seven. Freshmen Lina Sniegowski (2nd), Julia Jablonski (7th) and Gabriela Wrobel (10th) earned medals in their first high school meet.
