GOLF TAPS IN TWO REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

For just the third time in Saint Ignatius history, both the boys and girls golf programs have won IHSA Regional Championships in the same year (2011, 2021, 2024).
On Tuesday, the girls golf team won by just one stroke over Fenwick 353-354 to win the IHSA 2A Regional Championship at Cog Hill, hosted by Saint Ignatius.  Maggie Helms led the Pack with a round of 84 while Caroline Hull shot an 87 on the day.  Isabella Lam chipped in with a 90 and Clara Chough finished with a 92, securing the championship for the Wolfpack.  It was the fifth IHSA Regional Championship in program history.  They will now advance to the IHSA Sectional hosted at Silver Lake by Sandburg on Monday October 7th.

Following up on this performance, the boys golf team won by a commanding ten strokes over Walter Payton with a team score of 312 on Wednesday at Harborside, hosted by Payton.  Jake Forrest and Jimmy Doherty led the Pack with a round of 75 and 76, respectively.  Both student-athletes finished in the top-5 of the event.  Jimmy Snyder pitched in an 80 and Michael Garza finished with an 81.  It was the fifth consecutive IHSA Regional Championship for the program and fourteenth overall.  They will now advance to the IHSA Sectional hosted by Glenbrook North at Heritage Oaks Golf Club on Monday, October 7th.

Congratulations to both programs for their accomplishments and good luck to the Wolfpack at IHSA Sectionals.
