Virginia S. Alba
November 22, 1920 – February 4, 2025
Today our Heavenly Father, alongside our Lady of Guadalupe, is eagerly awaiting the arrival of our beloved mother, Virginia Sanchez Alba, affectionately called “Quina,” who passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at home surrounded by family members and friends. She was born November 22, 1920 in the town of Ignacio Allende, Durango, Mexico.
In April of 1956, she with her husband and children emigrated to Chicago to start a new life, which she devoted to raising her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Cruz Alba, whom she loved very much, her daughters Olivia Alba, Olivia De La Rosa(Leo), Virginia Lacerte(Larry), Catarina “Cathy” Alba, her son Francisco Javier (Olinda) and adopted daughter Olivia “Olis” De La Rosa.
She is survived by her children Yolanda Santos(+Javier), Amador Alba(Yolanda), Cristina Cabrera (+Martin) and Esperanza Sandoval (Peter).
Our mother Quina gave her unconditional love and support to her husband, her 9 children, her 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 great-great- grandchildren and all those who came to know her.
She leaves a void in our hearts which is filled with all the wonderful memories we have of her.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130. Family and Friends to meet Wednesday February 12, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Riverside; St Paul VI Parish, 105 Herrick Rd, Riverside, for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial to follow at St Mary Catholic Cemetery 87th Street & Hamlin Ave., Evergreen Park.
In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to Good Shepherd Catholic Church (Cristo Rey Parish) 2735 S. Kolin Ave., Chicago, IL 60623.
