JUSTIN SCOTT ‘24 FORGES HIS COLLEGE PATH!

Sports reporters in newsrooms across the country have been writing and talking about Justin Scott.

Here at Saint Ignatius College Prep, we’re familiar with his trajectory.  When the senior joined the Wolfpack as a freshman, his prior football experience was limited at best. He took to the sport, though, like a high performance car jumps from zero to 60. He developed all the right skills - FAST. By his junior year season, Scott was instrumental in Saint Ignatius reaching the State quarterfinals for the first time in program history. His 6’4”, 310 pound frame helped, as did the athleticism he cultivated playing hoops.

Saint Ignatius College Prep Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Matt Monroe said, “He’s a true winner who has made our basketball program a better place, and he’s going to do the same on the football field for the Buckeyes!”

That’s right: Scott, one of the most sought-after high school football players in the country, chose to continue his student-athlete career at The Ohio State University. He’s taking his defensive tackle talent to Columbus after having been courted by an array of football programs at higher learning institutions including Notre Dame and University of Michigan. He made his decision after a late June visit to Ohio State.

On advancing to the next level in a big way, Scott said, “I wouldn’t be able to make my dreams come true without my friends, family and coaches.”

Saint Ignatius College Prep Head Football Coach Matt Miller said, “We are thrilled for Justin’s opportunity at Ohio State University and can’t wait to watch and cheer for him at the next level. He’s a valued member of our program and has been a big part of our success.”

Athletic Director Mike Hurley added, “We are so proud of and excited for Justin. The Buckeyes are gaining an outstanding young man.”
