Wolfpack Put Up Huge Point Total at IHSA Sectional

The Wolfpack finished second out of 17 teams in the IHSA Sectional with 132 points, our largest total in many years. The Pack qualified for the IHSA State Finals in nine events and scored points with top-eight finishes in 17 of the 18 events. State qualifiers were; the 4x800 Relay team of Meghan Semmer, Courtney Beatty, Emma Valencia and Ella Hwang; Lizeth Montes in the 3200; Tori Scott in the Long Jump; Maliyah Miller in the 100 and the 400; Annika Swan in the 800 and 1600. Swan broke the school record in the 800 again; the 4x100 Relay team of Scott, Sophia Mendoza, Chika Ezike and Miller who broke the school record for the second meet in a row; the 4x400 Relay team of Maeve Griffin, Semmer, Gabriella Duque and Swan who also set a school record. Many others contributed to the 2nd-place finish. The 4x200 Relay team of Scott, Mendoza, Ezike and Tylar Mayberry finished third, narrowly missing a qualifying time. In addition to Scott's win in the Long Jump, field events added lots of points for the Wolfpack. Emme Alexander finished 3rd in the High Jump. Maeve Houlihan placed 8th in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Claire Mangan finished 5th in the Triple Jump. Sadie McGuire established a PR on her way to a 7th-place finish in the Shot Put. Elizabeth Schmiedeler and Pilar Curran finished 3r and 4th respectively in the Pole Vault. On the track, Mendoza added a 3rd-place finish in the 200, while Ezike was 6th. In distance races, Hwang was 3rd in the 1600, Duque was 5th in the 3200 and Elle Sheaffer was 6th in the 800. Both hurdlers earned two medals. Alexis Nelson was 4th in the 100 and 5th in the 300. Megan Winters added a 5th-place finish in the 100 and a 6th-place finish in the 300.
