  • Application Process

The application process for the Class of 2029 is now closed.

Saint Ignatius College Prep accepts applicants on the basis of entrance exam scores, previous academic performance and standardized testing, the promise of future development, consideration of Catholic heritage/school, the family’s history (if any) with the school, and adherence to the policies of the school. Saint Ignatius College Prep admits students of any gender, race, or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities made available at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, race or ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies or policies related to admissions, scholarship opportunities, tuition assistance, athletics, and other school-administered programs.

Saint Ignatius College Prep has a holistic admissions review process within which a range of application components are reviewed collectively and comprehensively. Along with the HSPT entrance exam scores, our application for admission includes: final 7th grade and first term 8th grade report cards, a record of standardized testing from 7th and/or 8th grade, student and parent applicant statements, and recommendations.

An applicant for admission to the freshman class must be in the 8th grade. To be considered for admission to Saint Ignatius, students must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) Entrance Exam, and complete an application for admission. The application becomes available to students following the administration of the HSPT.
  • Entrance Exam - High School Placement Test

Each year, the HSPT (Catholic High School entrance exam) is the first Saturday of December. The entrance exam for the Class of 2030 (9th grade fall of 2026) will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Registration for the entrance exam will open in November 2025.

Eighth grade students may only take the entrance exam at one Catholic high school and must test with Saint Ignatius to be considered in our admissions process. Saint Ignatius College Prep utilizes the HSPT (High School Placement Test). The HSPT has five sections: verbal, quantitative, reading, math and language (English). A brief student writing prompt is administered following the entrance exam. There is no application required in advance of the entrance exam. Following the entrance exam, students must complete our online application, which becomes accessible to all applicants on December 6, 2025.
  • Entrance Exam - Request for Accommodations

    Request for Accommodations
Saint Ignatius College Prep can provide testing accommodations on the entrance exam should a neuro-psych evaluation, IEP, or 504 plan outlining recommended accommodations be submitted in advance. For more information on testing accommodations, please contact Mrs. Shana Del Toro-McCann, Learning Specialist at shana.deltoromccann@ignatius.org.
  • Transfer Applicants

Saint Ignatius College Prep considers applicants for transfer to the 10th and 11th grades. Transfer applications for the 2025-2026 academic year will open April 1, 2025 and are due by June 1, 2025, with admissions decisions communicated within the month of June. Saint Ignatius does not consider midyear transfers. Transfers are considered within the context of current enrollment and space availability. The transfer application typically includes parent and student statements, current transcript and record of previous standardized testing, four letters (two teacher recommendations, discipline and attendance record, and the Treasurer's office), and the application form.

The transfer application for the 2025-2026 academic year will open on April 1, 2025.
