Pack Hold On to Stop Notre Dame

The Wolfpack faced their first serious challenge of the season in a hard-fought match against visiting Notre Dame College Prep winning 2-1. The Wolfpack controlled the game with better structure and passing in the first half. Liam Hladik notched the first goal finishing after a brilliant serve from center back Henry Joves. Early in the second half, Notre Dame evened the score when they capitalized on a defensive mistake. But Matias Sorrondeguy slotted a ball through to Nicky Smith for the go ahead score. With 9 seconds left in the game, a handball penalty was called in the box and a penalty kick was awarded. But goalkeeper Matthieu Martinez literally saved the day when he stopped a well-executed shot to preserve the win. Christian Spear and Cole Davis played well in supporting roles.
